Best TV ads

Feeling the love?! As it’s February 14th, I felt it appropriate to get all sentimental (for a change) and dwell on my most favourite ads of recent times, or to be more specific, the most emotive. Reflecting on these has actually got me remembering why I wanted to get into advertising in the first place.

So here they are… my Top 3 Most Emotive Ads:

At number 3, it’s…

Thomson, ‘Time for a holiday’ (created by BMB). Sorely longed-for holiday scenes encapsulated by the enchanting Sunday Girl cover of The Pixies “Where Is My Mind” – incredibly emotive and touching, especially within The Big Freeze back-drop of London! Would strike an emotional chord with anyone pining for the smell of sun lotion, the feel of sand between their toes and the knowledge that the hardest decision they’d have to make is whether to go to the beach or the pool. Great advertising.

At number 2, it’s…

John Lewis Christmas Ad 2011 (created by Adam & Eve). Beautifully simple narrative at the forefront of the bitter-sweet cover of The Smiths ‘Please, Please, Please’.  Conjures the essence of selflessly giving; wonderfully sweet and refreshingly pure hearted – the little boy’s impatience to give presents rather than receive them – love it.

And finally, my number 1, it’s…

Google Chrome ‘Dear Hollie’ (created by BBH NY). No explanation required. Just watch and well up…
