What is the role of a Retoucher?
A Retoucher specializes in taking an image and enhancing it or creating a whole new image from various images. They are often used to edit or extend backgrounds, adjust colour tones and retouch skin textures and generally clean up an image.

You generally need a few years of experience as a Retoucher to be able to hit the London freelance market but you may pick up your experience and build upon your retouching skills within another role such as Creative Artworker.
Once you reach a professional standard of high end retouching salaries can range from £40k up to around £70k
Types of company/agency common for this role:
Most advertising agencies will have a retouching department, where as some smaller agencies will have a dedicated person within the studio that looks after all retouching. There are also dedicated retouching houses that are often used when agencies do not have their own department.

The highest number of people you would be likely to manage within a retouching department would be around 4-5.
