Mid-weight Front-end Developer/ London / Permanent / £35k
My client is an integrated creative commercial department within a prestigious UK newspaper based in London. Recently they have managed to launch a leading multi platform digital operation that is changing the medial landscape that journalism has to offer. Using industry leading creative content and advertising/editorial strategy's to continue to deliver innovative digital solutions for their clients.
With regards to the current team, this works collaboratively across the editorial, marketing, data, commerce and research teams however the web design and digital team consists of a close knit team of 9. The suitable candidate would work with a team consisting of; a Senior Back End Developer, Senior Front End Developer, Junior Front End Developer, UX Designer, two Digital Designers and a Project Manager. Heading up the team would be both the Art Director and Head of Digital Design.
The role would involve a collaborative effort working closely with the Digital Designers to produce inventive interactive solutions with a focus and understanding of the necessity for quality UX and UI visual designs. The opportunity to mentor Junior Developers will be a key responsibility giving you the opportunity to pass on your knowledge of relevant technologies and contribute to the development of the team moving forward.
*You will be tasked with the development and maintenance of commercial websites across all of the digital products; including mobile, tablet and desktop
*Your responsibility as a developer would be to develop and maintain commercial websites across a variety of digital platforms; such as mobile, table and desktop.
*Working within a fast paced and exciting environment you would be expected to posses the skills to work successfully under pressure and to meet deadlines is a must
*The ability to deliver end to end projects and manage the responsibility to mentor Junior Developers
*An appreciation of web standards, performance, accessibility and code architecture are important to the role
●Excellent knowledge using HTML5 and CSS3
●Coding valid HTML and CSS mark-up
●Developing cross-browser and cross-platform compatible solutions
●Experience with jQuery
●Understanding and Knowledge of Photoshop, Illustrator
●Experience working with version control systems such as Git
●Experience of integrating analytics and awareness of their meaning and terminology
●Experience integrating with server-side code to produce dynamic pages
●Good knowledge and experience developing with WordPress and other CMS
