Junior PHP Developer - London - £32k
My client are a strategy led digital agency, with a huge focus on tech and how it can be innovatively used to interact with people and create amazing experiences. They have been hugely successful with major clients such as BBC, EA etc.
The successful candidate will be reporting into the Head of Development, the main focus of the role will centre around the delivery of back-end functionality for our clients' projects. You will be responsible for undertaking the build of new projects as well as expanding and improving legacy applications.
*Some relevant experience in a commercial environment
*A solid understanding of the fundamentals of PHP
*A good understanding of objects and OOP. You should be able to explain different types of objects, their function and when to use them.
*Experience working with at least one database technology (SQL etc)
*A basic understanding of the concept of MVC and how each layer is designed to function. Where to place different levels of application logic within such a methodology
*A high level of attention to detail
*A desire to learn the principles of software architecture and design patterns
*Usage of a source control technology.(GIT)
Nice to have:
*Experience with a PHP MVC framework (Symfony 2/3 preferred)
*Experience with API driven applications or building APIs
*A solid understanding of the HTTP protocol
*A solid understanding of programming design patterns and when to use them in which situations.
