Media Account Director - Independent Agency

A great opportunity with a medium sized, independent media planning and buying agency, with 3 UK offices. This is a chance to genuinely help shape the agency, with the eventual plan to step up to the board.

They have a broad client portfolio, working across the entertainment, education and FMCG sectors among others.

Due to an operational restructure, a vacancy has arisen for a Media Account Director to run and grow the agency's Brand team.

The role also calls for a strong team leader who can contribute in the development of the members of the team, a proactive involvement in growing revenue streams, either through organic or new business strategies, and managing the Brand team's P&L.


*Reporting into the relevant Board Director, the Media Account Director will ensure the smooth running of a department which fully integrates both on & offline media disciplines
*Show strong leadership and be able to motivate a team to perform to outstanding levels and fully reach their potential
*Regular senior client contact with a strong mandate to develop relevant and cohesive cross channel opportunities
*Ensuring clarity around a brief
*Delivering articulate and insightful analysis, producing innovative and market driven media solutions.
*Have a clear and concise style of writing plus a confident, persuasive presentation technique
*Oversee the development of proposal & results presentations - ensuring insight and application of knowledge are paramount
*Financial control of client's business and manage department P&L
*Ensure the department's output is to a high standard, to brief and be able to work to tight deadlines
*Works proactively and must deliver "added value" over and above the mandatory day to day tasks
*Development of media innovations throughout all clients within the team


*Strong market knowledge and experience across both on and offline media essential
*Strong, demonstrable, strategic thinking skills are essential
*Expert at defining the role of each media and articulating relevant strategies
*Be able to identify key strategic insights for the benefit of a client's business and be able to deliver results against pre-set KPIs
*Be able to interrogate data, from various sources, and convert into meaningful learnings, which can be implemented as part of a media plan
*Strong relationships with Media Owners at senior levels
*Supervision of media buying and rates
*Advanced knowledge of primary desktop research systems eg TGI, NMR
*To shift perspective from media campaigns to how we can drive a clients' business forward
