Creative Advertising Jobs

Creative advertising is a fast-paced profession, but one that rewards those who possess a real flair for devising successful ad campaigns. Creative advertisers are adept at working under pressure and consistently coming up with great ideas for campaigns, both in print and on the web.

What do creative advertising jobs entail?

If you’re thinking of a career in creative advertising, it stands to reason that you’ll need to be passionate about advertising. Advertising is a notoriously tough industry – one that demands ambition, determination and enthusiasm.

A degree in marketing or one of the creative disciplines is the most obvious route to becoming a creative advertiser, though in truth almost any degree can get you where you want to be. Some universities now offer dedicated degrees in creative advertising.

Academic qualifications aside, to become a successful creative advertiser you’ll need to be a great communicator with good interpersonal skills. Exchanging ideas and working together as a team is an integral part of the job. Many creative advertising roles require a familiarity with web and mobile platforms, as brands seek to exploit developing markets and reach out to online audiences.

Most creative advertisers will find work with dedicated advertising agencies, though it is not unheard of for large companies to recruit creative advertisers to work in-house. A strong digital background will help to obtain middle and senior advertising jobs, with the majority of creative advertisers working predominately on the web.

What salary can I expect as a creative in advertising?

Creative advertising salaries can vary greatly, depending on experience and level of seniority. For graduates starting out with an advertising agency, a salary of £26,000 upwards is realistic, while creative directors can command a salary of over £90,000 in some cases.
