What do proofreading jobs entail?
As a proofreader, your duties will include checking for any grammatical errors, inconsistencies and spacing errors, ensuring brand/ logo consistency across the work and marking up the work to show the artworking team what changes are required. To become a proofreader, you’ll need to demonstrate an ability to proofread and will most likely have a formal qualification in the specialism, via an organisation such at Society for Editors and Proofreaders. To be an on screen proofreader, you will mostly be working with InDesign and will be mac based and have the ability to annotate PDF files. Experience of proofreading within a creative agency or similar studio environment would also be desirable for our clients too.
What salary can I expect as a Proofreader?
Proofreaders salaries average around 25 – 28K and as a freelancer you can expect to earn between £16 and £23 per hour.
