The future is Social

The future is Social

We recently caught up with Sara Tomaszewska the founder of Little Media Agency Ltd - an award winning creative social media agency - to get her expert perspective on the world of social and how she has seen the market change in 2020 as a result of the challenges that 2020 has bought to brands trying to manage their online presence and overall brand position.

Social Media is Sara's area of expertise, and she works with a wide variety of SME clients across the globe, whilst running Little Media Agency Ltd, to support them in their social strategies and how they can utilise social to amplify their business.

What impact did you see COVID-19 have on clients' businesses?

The pandemic brough uncertainty which impacted many clients and encouraged some to reduce spend, others were impacted more on a product level, causing them other business issues to overcome before being able to market to their target audience.

Some clients actually saw their business grow including those in sectors such as home improvement, family law and estate agents.

2020 Social Media Trends

2020 saw many more people using social media, especially being as we were all at home for most of the year. Sara believes it is a great platform right now and offers greater engagement. They have seen that social viewing habits are changing, with more people going on social media during the day than previously. There was a 44% rise in people using social media during lockdown, proving that social media is a great tool to connect people together.

Tik Tok has been a huge area of growth for the Little Media Agency Ltd, and is working effectively for B2B brands as well as B2C, as many brands want to be seen as more fun and less formal. In fact, the platform has attracted more diverse backgrounds during lockdown, with 22% of parents with young children creating and uploading content.

They've noticed growth generally within video and engagement with video, a change from last year, with many people offering advise, tips, with natural videos actually tending to perform better than highly edited ones. Within Linkedin & Facebook offering live video this is only set to grow further. Facebook's video offering accounts for up to 8 billion views per day, and 11% of their posts are videos, whilst 66% of marketeers said that they planned to create more video content on Linkedin in the new year.

What are the benefits of using Social Media as a brand?

In Sara's view, every business really needs to have social, as this is the first place consumers go, and it is a particularly great for start ups as you don't need a big budget initially. It's also highly trackable and accountable.

What's next in the world of Social Media?

Live video is Sara's prediction, as she feels stories functions might actually be introduced across all platforms, as well as Tik Tok continuing to grow in popularity. Also, voice content will continue to grow across all platforms. Twitter already launched voice tweets in 2020, and new platforms such as Clubhouse will continue to grow.

We can't wait to see how brands incorporate these new trends into their strategies, and how social media experts will keep up with the everychanging & exciting world of Social Media.
